Grain- Focusing On What Really Matters!
Grain Singapore believes in enjoying good food in the company of your loved ones and was thus created ‘for the love of food’.
According to the company, “What to eat” is one of the biggest challenges that people face every day. To decide what to eat and how to find consistently healthy and delicious food has always been a big question. Grain aims to solve this everyday issue by creating delicious meals that are easily accessible.
The company competes with Singapore’s crowded online food delivery platform with companies such as Deliveroo, Foodpanda, and UberEats. What makes Grain Singapore different is its full-stack approach, instead of partnering with restaurants, Grain makes their own dishes. The dishes are developed by Grain’s in-house R&D team and are then created by professional chefs.
Grain Singapore’s meal boxes are focused on small groups and individuals while its buffet caters to events and corporate offices. The company manages each aspect of customer experience on its own, from creating a recipe to delivering the meals.
Grain Singapore Gets Colossal Funding
The company has recently secured USD 10 million in funding from Singha Ventures, Ozi Amanat’s K2 VC, and Genesis Alternative Ventures. Besides the mentioned investors, the funding round was also joined by Sassoon Investment Corporation, FoodXervices, and Sass Corp. However, the funding was led by Singha Ventures which is a corporate venture capital fund of Singha Corporation.
According to a study conducted jointly by Statista and The Straits Times, Grain is presently on the fifth spot on Singapore’s fastest-growing companies with thousands of people using Grain’s services every day. The client list of Grain includes Yahoo, TripAdvisor, DBS, Danone, and Oldendorff.
The Road Map
Grain Singapore plans to expand in other Asian cities with the funding proceeds, starting with Bangkok. They also plan to ramp up growth in Singapore. The company will be working with Singha especially for Thailand as they plan to use Singha’s widespread F&B network across the country, including distribution and logistics.
